I Write Because I Want To Feel

by admin

i want to feel

I picked up a new book at Costco the other day. It is written by James Frey and called
Bright Shiny Morning
. Of course is was one of those versions I love with interesting tidbits about not just the story but the author at the back of the book.

Beyond reminding me what a fucking raving bitch Oprah is, it made me think about why it is I write. he said when he does he thinks the following things (forgive me for paraphrasing a bit)L

1) Where is [the character]

2) What is he/she doing

3) How is the character feeling

Sounds pretty basic right? I kinda thought so at first too but when I really began to ponder it, that is what good writing is all about. Literally, all what it’s about.

This in turn got me to thinking why I write and I have come to a conclusion, a startling and maybe depressing conclusion but one none the less. I write to feel something. I want to feel. I want to feel love, joy, pain, happiness, fear, death, sex and everything inbetween. I want to feel and in my everyday life I don’t.

I just don’t.

SO Funny that Britney’s Tampon’s Breakout Role Makes News

by admin

Ok, so I thought it was funny that while searching a Hrvatski website about an alleged war criminal the front page was dominated by talk of Britney Spears latest tampon mishap on stage. Keep in mind this isn’t even in English, everyone all over the world is crazy! Who wants to see that? Well, I watched the video of the tampons breakout role so I guess me. (I am embedding the video below in case you are one of them as well).

I thought it would be embarrassing enough to have your hoohaw shown in the tabloids without underwear on but Britney Spears tampon string hanging out of the crotch of a costume? Wow. That really takes the cake. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the likes of it before.

If she has a video of her giving birth she should publish it. Then we would have seen her kitty doing pretty much everything it’s good for. Oooh, maybe the “alleged” Britney Spears sex tape has some golden shower action on it. Then she really will have all her bases covered.

Break a leg Brit’s Tampon, go for the gold! Get some bubbly and toast to your first onstage role. What do you want to bet she did it on purpose for more attention?

Man I love Tricia Helfer and Battlestar Galactica

by admin

battlestar galactica

If you haven’t heard the name Tricia Helfer then you are living under a really yucky rock. The thing about her is that well, she rocks.

One of my all time favorite shows EVER is Battlestar Galactica, the new generation I mean, and if she wasn’t in it I don’t think it would be the same at all. I love Six and I am so glad that she is getting so much more air time this season. If you haven’t been watching Battlestar then you better hurry up because it’s the last season. Try to find some reruns or better yet go buy the DVD set, you’ll be glad you did. But you better start with Battlestar Galactica Season 1 (HD).

The show is filled with amazing actors like Edward James Almos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber (so hot), James Callis (who by the way should win like every award ever offered to an actor for his portrayal of Gaius Baltar) and one of my personal favorites soon to be in the new Joss Whedon Dollhouse TV show Tahmoh Penikett. The show is considered Sci-fi but it isn’t like any other Sci-fi show out there it is so much deeper than that.

But my main point is [tag]Tricia Helfter[/tag] rocks and I can’t wait to see more of her. I just heard she has a year contract with Fox once [tag]Battlestar Galactica[/tag] is over so here’s hoping her show is awesome. I wonder what network Dolhouse would be on, she would be awesome in that.

It’ll be sad to see Battlestar end, let’s just hope they do it right, though I have herd rumours of some movies to come after the show ends, Tricia better be in them! You hear me writers??

I have to end by saying that Tricia Helfer is so much more than a pretty face, she is a wicked actress.

Hedley Famous Last Words–They better not be!!

by admin

jacob hoggard

I have a dirty little secret and that is that I love, yes love Hedley and Jacob Hoggard. Sure, he is a total nut job but that is what makes him so friggin’ cool!

If you don’t know who they are you better get up to speed. [tag]Jacob Hoggard[/tag] was a contestant on [tag]Canadian Idol[/tag] some years ago now, he was the best they ever had on there and after seeing him on it I could never watch it again. It was just so boring without him, he was hilarious and talented, the whole TV package.

But anyways he is now the of Hedley and they are doing really well, yay! A good Canadian band they are actually going to be touring with Bon Jovi in the coming months. I hate Bon Jovi. But atht is another story. Unless he is going to sing some Blaze of Glory songs then screw the BJ—or maybe I should say blow him, get it BJ?

Anyways, I have seen Hedley live one time only and they were amazing and wacky, It was on a New Year’s Eve and they sounded just as good in person as on the album which is not something you hear every day.

Jacob Hoggard and [tag]Hedley[/tag] just came out with their second album the other day called Famous Last Words and I have to say it is just as good if not better than the first one. The first one was great, I loved almost all the songs on it, but this one is a little more grown up without losing that Hedley feel that makes them so unique. I have to hand it to the guys for keeping it real.

I remember the first song they ever released, at least it was the firs tone I heard, it was On My Own and I was a little disappointed, after seeing him perform on Canadian Idol, I thought it would be better than it was. But I got the album anyways and the other songs were wayyyyy better, though in all fairness Hedley On My Own did grow on me as well.

This new one is so cool, I love Hand Grenade, Old School and For The Nights I Can’t Remember the most I think. But it is so hard to say!

If you get the chance you should check out Jacob Hoggard and the rest of the band online. You can see some of their crazy antics too. Insane!

Iris and Ruby Book Review

by admin

my book review

I am thinking about putting up my book review of the books I am reading as I read them. I read a LOT of books but I think may be fun to write about them, what do you think? I read all different genres from horror and fantasy to things like to Kill a Mockingbird. And I love the old classics, so you will get a taste of a lot of different kinds of books in my book reviews.

I just finished a book last night called Iris and Ruby by Rosie Thomas. I figure I might as well start out my [tag]book reviews[/tag] with this one while it is fresh in my head.

It was a pretty good book which is why I am doing it for my book review first, I had never read anything from [tag]Rosie Thomas[/tag] before so I had no expectations going in. It was about a girl about 19 who basically ran away from her home in England and just showed up on her elderly grandmothers doorstep in Egypt. The grandma (Iris) was not really all to keen on it at first but soon it was breathing new life into her and she felt better than she had in years. The girl named Ruby was changing as well. She was learning to be more patient and to think of others besides herself.

The book bounced between the present and the past. A lot of the book took place in the memory of Iris back during World War Two when she worked in Egypt. She worked at GHQ which was where the intel came through and was passed alone the line of people fighting the war.

Of course she fell in love with a Captain who ran special ops in the desert, his name was Xan. They were head over heels in love and of course as all good war love stories end he dies tragically leaving her bereft. Of course we know she went on to have children because there is Ruby, but the way that the three generations of women–Iris, Lesley (Ruby’s mom) and Ruby– were affected by the loss of Xan is interesting and believable.

I liked that but it is the revelation by Iris herself in the end that is so powerful and this brings a form of closure to the daughter she has all but abandoned in childhood and even to Iris herself in a way.

The end left me teary, not weepy and I quite enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to those who like real life dramas or family dramas. This is my book review of Rosie Thomas‘ Iris and Ruby. I didn’t want to give you any spoilers or anything, it is hard to write a book review and not give things away!

The Perfect Movie Gone Baby Gone Movie Spoilers Included

by admin

Gone Baby Gone movie

I just watched the Gone Baby Gone movie yesterday and I have to say I am amazed at it on all fronts. This was by far one of the best movies I have watched in a long time and I don’t want to give all the credit to the writer of the book Denis Lehane. I’ve watched a lot of movies that were books first and more often than not the movie was lacking, but definitely not in the case of Gone Baby Gone.

Let’s start with [tag]Ben Affleck[/tag]. I like the guy, he seems like a nice bloke and he was good in Hollywoodland but beyond that he has made a lot of questionable choices insofar as his movie choices, we can all agree on that. But in his directorial debut, this Gone Baby Gone movie, he shines like never before. He did a flawless job directing this movie, Clint Eastwood or Steven Spielberg could not have done better if they tried.

But it is the story itself that is both so intriguing, moving and disturbing. The [tag]Gone Baby Gone movie[/tag] is definitely one that is going to haunt you for days. I was up last night just going over everything in my head over and over again. The choices that were made were all so powerful and they all had such insanely huge consequences that it drives you nuts. If only the uncle had trusted his wife or chosen a shittier PI, or if the cop had kept his mouth shut while he was drunk everything would have ended up differently and it’s so frustrating. But the fact of the matter is that any movie that gets you so involved, so invested is a good one, one that has been acted superbly and directed perfectly.

[tag]Casey Affleck[/tag] was the perfect person to play his character in the Gone Baby Gone movie. He is a baby faced actor of slight frame but he is so goddamn tough in this movie that you just want to both hug him and rip off his clothes at the same time. He is so ultimately good and yet he kills a man without a second thought–not that the guy didn’t deserve it, he was a child killer.

But then later in the movie he does what you cannot argue is the right thing but is so awful at the same time. He does what is certainly not in the little girls best interest because to do otherwise would be wrong and he can’t live with that, even though it leaves him alone and full of guilt. I can’t help but think that if he hadn’t killed the kid rapist and felt that wrongness and that shame he would have been able to live with leaving the little girl where she was later on down the road. He just couldn’t live with the two wrongs on his conscience, but really chances are he will not be able to live with his right decision either.

The end of the Gone Baby Gone movie is magnificent, you see him alone living with what he had done and then the last line when he realizes how little the mom cared about her daughter–she didn’t even know the name of her favorite dolly– the one he worked so hard to bring back all he can do is stare and you can feel his heart breaking. And then it’s over.

The Gone Baby Gone movie is such a painful movie but not for the reason you would think. It’s not painful because the adorable little girl dies but because she lives and the private detective hired to find her and bring her home actually does. That is the tragedy of the story.

Since I wrote about my opinion on the whole [tag]Britney Spears[/tag] debacle yesterday it got me thinking about that guy on youtube who did the whole crying fit, you the guy, his name’s Chris Crocker. He is definitely an interesting personality. That crying jag turned him into a pseudo celebrity overnight.

I first heard the screaming and the ranting on the radio and of course I had to go home and look it up. I was shocked to see how genuinely upset the guy was about how everyone was tearing down Britney for her MTV Video Awards performance. I mean, did this [tag]Chris Crocker[/tag] see the video? I have watched a lot of zombie movies in my time but Britney really took the cake on stage, especially since she used to really rock it back in the day.

Anyways, I found that Chris Crocker video to be downright frightening but I started watching some of his other [tag]youtube videos[/tag] as well and not all of them were as scary as that one. There was the odd frightfest like the eat my cornhole vid, wow. But in others he was very beautiful, smart, funny and in my opinion as sensible as hell. I think that the guy has a lot to offer in terms of helping people realize that “normal” is a bunch of bullshit.

But you know the thing I noticed most in just about all of Chris Crocker videos on youtube was his flawless makeup. Holy sh*t, if I could make my eye shadow look that good I would never stay home. I would be out on the town flaunting my beauty all day and all night.

He might be one crazy mother f*cker with serious Britney Spears issues but he’s got good points to make and he is one hot and beautiful boy. I mean Crocker is really really pretty, I am uber jealous.

If you want to experience Chris for yourself just look up itschriscrocker on YouTube and you will find them all easily.

Whoever Said Skulls Were Ugly Never Saw This Diamond Skull

by admin

diamond skull

I am in a morbid mood today so this diamond skull obviously appealed to me. I actually saw it for the first time a few months ago. I think it is absolutely gorgeous, I have always wanted to start a skull collection, I mean one of real skulls but I would never be able to afford to add this type of one to my collection! Wow!

I have some books at home filled with [tag]jeweled skulls[/tag], they apparently go all through history. It has always been an important ceremonial type thing to decorate skulls but this diamond skull definitely takes the cake.

This sparkling [tag]diamond skull[/tag] was created by the genius mind of [tag]Damien Hirst[/tag]–I know I’ve never heard of him either but he is apparently a big shot in the jewelry world. Man, I would do a lot for just one of these diamonds on their own, never mind the cool setting.

It turns out that the material under the diamonds is not the real skull. What they did was make a mold of an actual skull and then use that to embed the diamonds. The teeth though, those are the read deal. It’s still pretty cool if you ask me, definitely the nicest looking diamond skull I have had the opportunity to see.

Now all I have to do is see it in real, can you imagine how the diamond skull sparkles in real? There are no words. In fact this diamond skull is considered to be close to priceless, it is such a work of art that many say it would sell for at least $100 million if not more. It is hard to price such unique items.
