Richard Holbrooke is Dead: Am I a bad person?

by admin

richard holbrooke dies

So, Richard Holbrooke has died. Of a broken heart no less. One more soul to pile onto the sea of bodies he let be mutilated during the Bosnian War.

I do believe that he threw the civilians who lived in the Srebrenica region, along with thousands of refugees who had fled to this “safe zone”, to the wolves of Serbia. He knew there would be a massacre and while I like to think of myself as a big picture kind of girl there are times when the few for the many can never be explained away. And it certainly doesn’t help when you spin things to look like the hero you definitely are not. All while burying the truth deeper and deeper with every action.

When I first saw the headlines that Holbrooke had a tear in his heart and he was in critical condition I said good, I hope he dies. But then he didn’t. There was a surgery and a few days went by. I figured he would pull through, didn’t really think about it much.

But then the other day I went to my Top Sites page (if you have the Safari browser you know what I mean) and I could make out the little yellow breaking news banner on the CNN page and I could tell there was a picture of Richard Holbrooke accompanying it. I felt a flutter in my chest as I clicked it and the first thing I did when I saw he was indeed deader than a doornail is smile.

Does that make me a bad person? Probably. Do I care? No. Not really. Sometimes people really do get what’s coming to them.

Srebrenica: My response to his response of my response

by admin

Srebrenica Massacre Victims Kravica Warehouse

If you’ve been following along then you already know I have gotten into a bit of a squabble with an iReporter on CNN. I didn’t like some of the points he made in his article and he took offence to me pointing this out. This is now the second comment I am making on his article. I should mention that he has throw some weird little snippy comments in between his last comment and this one of mine. I think he may be working himself up into a lather which of course makes me positively giddy.

His last response was this and here is what I have to say about it:

The question of bodies is one that we can argue until the cows come home and never get an answer to. Until all of the remains found are tested for DNA there is now way to tell whether many of the bodies are Bosniak or Serb. Even then, unless they are matched to family members either side can claim them.

The Dutchbat survived on their rations. They were well enough stocked and were able to get some supplies through the pipeline, though I have read many reports that even that was difficult at times.

As far as Oric and the raids on villages, it’s like thinking which came first, the chicken or the egg. Did Oric attack the villages in response to having the food and aid cut off or did the food and aid get cut off because he raided the villages. I am inclined to think it was the former rather than the latter, it simply makes more sense that way.

The hypocritical comment was made in response to the comment: “But basic honesty and respect for users of the Atlas require that it be duly noted…” I read that to be a comment made by you not the Atlas itself. I’m sorry if I misunderstood that.

I can’t say I am a big believer in The Hague and neither am I a fan of NATO, I’d eagerly throw the UN to the wolves as well for that matter. There were many dimensions to all that happened in the early-mid 90’s in Bosnia. I think that the US played every side against the middle and as usual managed to come out smelling like a rose. I don’t think that convicting Naser Oric would have brought a lawsuit to any military actions because there is no one to police these actions.

The fact that the Dutchbat left Srebrenica at all is disgraceful. Absolutely shameful. I like the way you put it “gave up protecting butchers from Srebrenica, and let Bosnian Serbs do their revenge” what a proud day for the UN. Just let people slaughter the guilty and the innocent alike. No taking names, just round them up, bind them and throw them into a warehouse so that the Serbs can lob grenades and keep shooting until no one is left moving and the floor is thick and running with blood, the walls pockmarked and burnt. I’ve seen the pictures and I know you have too. I’ve seen the videos of the men tied and waiting at the white house. I think it’s safe to say the Serbs didn’t have much going in the way of mercy either.

There is no way you can say no women or children were killed when Srebrenica fell. They may not have been main targets but some of the boys I’ve seen in the videos are young. And there is nothing crueler than angry, revenge filled mobs and rape is always a byproduct of circumstances like these.

One more quick point I think is important to note. There were thousands of refugees in Srebrenica. What reason do you give for them being there? For them leaving their homes behind? They accumulated there because the Serbs left them no option. The conditions were terrible but they knew there was a good chance they would be killed if they left.

You and the Serbs say they didn’t kill children, the elderly and women, the Muslims say that’s not true. The Muslims say they didn’t kill children, the elderly and women, the Serbs say that’s not true. He said she said.

No death is acceptable. Not one. But acceptable and understandable are two very different things.

Does Not Everyone Think Of Death Everyday?

by admin

thinking-of-death

FB Friend ONE: does not everyone think about death everyday?

FB ME: I do. Not my death necessarily, but yes.

FB Friend ONE: i kinda meant your own yes. but just thinking on death in general surely will lead to thinking about your own anyway.

FB Friend NOT MINE: Not really , and when it does happen , I have no regrets because I am living the best years of my life and I make sure all the people I care about are part of it from time to time. Only one issue brings me down a little and that would be that I have not left my mark in the form of an offspring yet but hey , we can’t win all the time , so I am glad for the other successes in my life.

FB ME: I guess when I think about it I do think of my own. I worry what would happen to my son if something happened to me a lot. And you’re right when I hear about accidents or disasters and other terrible things it does make me think that could happen to me. No one gets up in the morning thinking this is the day they are going to get hit by a drunk driver, get squished in an earthquake or drop dead but it happens and i do think about that.

I didn’t actually realize how much I thought about my own death. It doesn’t freak me out or anything though, I am not scared to die, I just worry about my son and how he’d deal with it, like I said. Though the method by which I might die is scary, actually being dead doesn’t freak me out.

I know when my dad was dying what was hardest for him was thinking about how it would affect my mom and especially my brother, he was only 11. When he found out my dad had cancer he started throwing up. I can’t even think about it now. It was a bad death but dying wasn’t what scared him either, just what pain it would cause us. Sad.

Sadly unlike your friend above I don’t think I am living the best years of my life. I don’t really know what would make be truly fulfilled.

FB Friend NOT MINE: Don’t get me wrong, its always a concern about loved ones and how they will handle death which is why we have to prepare ourselves by putting our affairs in order so that they are take care of in the event we have too leave. Also important to explain the significance of death and life to them so that they will understand.

Most importantly , rather than spending too much thought on this , treasure the moments you have now with them and let them know you do.

FB ME: I can tell this is going to end up a rant so prepare :D

I think FB Friend NOT MINE is totally right but for me, it’s about so much more than just putting my affairs in order. I’m one of those moms who talks to her son about everything, it’s important to me that he knows the world as it really is, I didn’t raise him in a bubble. Not even close. Some would say that is terrible, I say that I want him to grow up to be a strong man who understands both the wonder and the horror of the human condition. I have files and files of horror and if it was up to me I would pack everyone in a room and make them look at them all.

I hate to think of Jake growing up as one of those people who simply look away from the awful things that happen all over the world. Nothing is more important to me than having people open their eyes and really look, look at the bodies piles in the streets, realize that they are people, not just bloated blackened corpses. They were someone sons, mothers, sisters and so forth.

Look at the towns in places like Bosnia that have been devastated by war. If no one is willing to suck it up and look at what is going on nothing will never change. I firmly believe that if everyone faced the world, really faced it, eventually progress could be made. It would take time but it would happen. But not if everyone is so squeamish. You think it’s hard to look at pictures of people rotting in mass graves? Imagine what it was like for them and what put them there. If they can live it, the least we can do is see it and look for ways, no matter how small to make a difference.

It breaks my heart to read, see and write about these things but I do it because it’s important. You don’t think I spend plenty of time in tears, I do, but it has to be done. And I am doing my best to instil this kind of thinking in my kid too.

I have talked to him about the possibility that something could happen to me. That’s part of why I think it’s so important to keep a good line of communication open with him and it’s worked out well. Putting off talking about the important things could mean they never get addressed.

I believe in teaching kids (age appropriately of course) about everything from relationships, sex and what it means not just physically but emotionally to both him and the girl he eventually gets intimate with, I talk to him about how women should be treated and how he deserves to be treated for that matter. I talk to him about infidelity and how things like that impact everyone and pretty much everything else under the sun.

He’s 14 now and just today I watched a show about little girls who are used as sex slaves in places like Cambodia and about the whole concept of sex tourism. I told him that if he learns one single thing from me it is that it’s our duty as human beings to stand up for what is right, no matter how hard it may be. No matter how much it hurts. I don’t believe in shielding children from the reality of the world in any way.

Again totally got carried away. I’m a little tipsy right now so that may explain it.

FB Friend ONE: I understand that FB ME ..even though I dont have a child..my only concern used to be my pets.. i was quite worried if anything happened to me, what would happen to them as they were so particular about things… ;)

so until i get another pet.. i just worry about whos gonna have to sort through my things and dispose of my stuff! and uurgh hoping i just get cremated and not have people doing all that funeral stuff.
just throw me in the oven and go have a drink.. you know? i’d prefer that..may sound morbid but.. i never did like being the centre of attention ;)

one of my old freinds wanted the whole spectacular horse drawn funeral carriage thing with flowers raining from the skies and people weeping and wailing in the streets.. O.o

thanks for sharing that about your dad, i do appreciate it, and i can understand that, when you have attachments in this life, of course your concerns will be with them.. as with you and your son, and me and my pets..

and hmm, i am not sure if I am living the best years of my life either, maybe the most transformative.. i know things could be better though, but i also know things could be worse and I have improved my life over the last year drastically, I think the change i made last year saved me from myself.

I dont know why you are talking more haha, but its good, i like talking and talkative people, its the best way to get to know others online :p

Oh and all that btw is not taking into account my thoughts of afterlife, and if I have to come back and do it all over again, because I think about that stuff all the time…

was funny, I read a monks blog entry not long ago.. where he was almost bragging it seemed that he wouldnt have to come back and he gets to escape reincarnation and be with his god haha.. made me laugh but, I was also quite jealous.

FB Friend ONE: wow FB ME. and this is one of the things I admire you for.. :)

I agree with much of what you say.. and I am grateful there are people like you about, I also acknowledge that others have different ways to spread the message and change the world, but yes the awareness is paramount!

Correct Me If I’m Wrong About Naser Oric

by admin

Quote taken as is from some random anti-muslim forum post:

“Please correct me if i am wrong but is this not the same naser oric who fled Sebrenica with his troops when the Serb army attacked ?
Thus abandoning his fellow filthy muslims to their fate.

Some hero he is indeed.

Wasnt he also responsible for the raids on Serbian villages near Sebrenica.

Thus using the safe area as an military staging point and killing many Serbian civilians in the most gruesome manner.
Yes much to be proud of my bosniak “friend” and please dont try to deny this.

Since he has made statements about this to ITN press and the Dutch army has many hours of video documenting his crimes.
Then again it might be another muslim you all smell alike, like the filth that welped you.”

My response on same forum:

Sure I will correct you, no problem:

NUMBER ONE: Oric did NOT abandon his fellow “filthy” muslims when Mladic massacred those in Srebrenica. He had been ordered by President Izetbegovic to travel to Zenica for more training. This was shady on the part of the President, not Oric himself.

NUMBER TWO: What would you expect him to do in terms of the raids. Should he and all the refugees crammed into that tiny town have starved to death? The Serbs had cut off their aid, there was no food, medical supplies or anything else needed for survival in both winter and summer.

AND much of the destruction caused was not even done by his men. The starving, freezing refugees would follow them to towns and take what they needed from the Serbs. Is that right, no, but what would you do to keep your kids, wives, parents alive? It was the Serb military’s fault anyways, they should have let humanitarian aid through consistently. Period.

NUMBER THREE: Dutchbat? Seriously, you want to bring them up? They are as laughable as the UN. Talk about useless, and if you think they aren’t going to toe the line that makes them look less like the monsters they are, you are as nuts as Charles Manson.

NUMBER FOUR: Last but certainly not least let’s get to the bottom of the “many hours of video documenting”. Where is it? Have you ever seen it? I have been researching the war extensively and I have never seen any footage of Naser Oric perpetrating any crimes against people. In fact, there are very little footage of him at all.

Don’t tell me what other Muslims may or may not have done during that time, you said there is footage of ORIC committing crimes. I say Bull Shit to that, show me. Oh wait, you can’t because there is none.

Learning Can Be Downright Painful: The Bosnian War

by admin

August 1, 2008

I remember hearing about the war in bosnia back in, oh, about 1992 I guess it was. it wasn’t that they taught it in school or that I was particularly new savvy, the reason it caught my attention was that I was daring a Croatian boy at the time and I fancied myself in love with him.

Knowing what I know now, I wish I had paid more attention back then.

The thing that got me interested in the subject this was was the news of Karadzic’s recent capture. I was so excited to hear that they caught a war criminal who had succeeded in hiding out for over 13 years and I had to learn more about him and what he was accused of doing. I didn’t realize it would change my life.

Turns out that this was one of those subjects that I lost myself in. Obsessive on a good day, I buried myself in stories from the Bosnian war, the players involved and even the politics surrounding it. It was shocking to me that I didn’t hear more about these stories back in the day, the horror was so huge and so real, I still find it amazing that it’s not more well known. How is it that Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic and Naser Oric didn’t become a household name?

The very first thing I looked up was Srebrenica and the massacre that took place there in July of 1995. It was shocking, not surprising per se, I have read a LOT of stories of the evils we can perpetrate against each other, but even with all of that ugly knowledge this managed to all me in brand new ways.

Of course most, if not all of the things I learned that first day centered around the slaughter of Bosniaks at the hands of the brutal and blood thirsty Serbs, or as they call them, Chetniks.

The pictures that accompanied the various articles were enough to make the bile rise up in my throat and again, keep in mind I have seen violence, I have watched videos of innocent captives beheaded by Al Qaeda, but still these images were sickening.

(I feel I need to interject something in my defence here. The reason I watched the terrorist videos was because I figured that if others can experience these painful, horrific events the least I can do is watch them and try to understand as much as possible the hand they were dealt.)

As soon as I began reading up on the plight of the Bosniaks in Srebrenica, I knew I had to write about it. I didn’t want to write a non-fiction book, that has been done to death, no, I wanted to educate people who wouldn’t even deign to open the flap of a non-fiction book. Making the decision to make it a fictional account of these true events was an easy one for me, actually narrowing down the plot was not going to be so easy.

The first incarnation I came up with was born from the stories of the “column.” Reading the stories of survivors brought tears to my eyes and more than one lump to my throat. I couldn’t wrap my head around the cruelty of the Serbs, how they would trick the men into calling to their families hiding in the hills. They convinced them that if they called their sons and fathers, wives and daughters down, and they surrendered they would make sure no harm came to them. Unfortunately, this was an empty promise that they never intended to honor.

As soon as the families showed their faces they were all whisked away to be tortured and executed.

Drop “GENOCIDE” or Karadzic Walks Free

by admin

mass graves 2

All the semantics involved in the case of Radovan Karadzic and the whole Bosnian war in particular is starting to grate on my nerves. Actually, it’s way past that, I feel myself wince every time I read the word in an article and it’s starting to piss me off.

Now as any goo writer should I try to stay unbias (ha!), well, I try anyway but the matter is that Karadzic is guilty of ordering a whole hell of a lot of people exterminated. Was it “genocide”? Does it really matter? They’re dead, he told the soldiers to do it, they did. Guilty, right?

Not so fast, he is standing on a leg that seems to be gaining strength and that leg is all about the aforementioned, dreaded, retarded and pointless word: Genocide.

bosnian genocide karadzicYes, those he wanted dead all happened to be Bosniaks, he wanted them “cleansed” from the area but it wasn’t really about their religion or their ethnicity in a lot of ways. They had just pissed him off. They didn’t agree with his agenda, he and Milosevic, Mladic figured they could swoop in, take out the opposition and get what they wanted.

If those killed hadn’t been Muslim, but still opposed them, chances are good they would have done the same exact thing because let’s face it, they figured they could get away with it and Bill Clinton (the positively scion of virtue that he is) was perfectly willing to let them.

So, is that genocide? Yes and no. But bottom line WHO GIVES A SHIT. Call a spade a spade and a mass murderer a mass murderer. If they keep pushing the word down the throat of the courts Radovan Karadzic is going to shove back twice and hard and he is a smart mother fucker.

Hague, LISTEN UP! Forget the “Bosnian Genocide” stick with some lower numbers and nail him with murder.

He has a pretty valid claim about the numbers. On one hand the prosecution says thousands were executed and buried only to be reburied at a later date. Karadzic claims that there is no telling how many DNA samples overlap. How many of pieces of people were spread throughout more than one mass grave? Who knows! With no one doing all the DNA work that needs to be done this brings into serious question whether he is indeed of genocide.

For example, let’s say for arguments sake that there were 150 DNA samples found at one gravesite and 200 at another. One could say that this means 350 Bosnian Muslims were murdered. BUT if indeed they were dug up before being reburied, that 350 could turn into only 200. Different parts of the same people in multiple graves? It’s certainly possible if not probable. This has a direct bearing on the genocide claim.

So DROP IT! Pick a good 150 dead Bosniaks, I don’t give a shit, pick names out of a hat, and try him for those deaths. Okay, all those genocide deniers will go on to squawk and squawk but who cares? He will be in prison for the rest of his life. Isn’t that the point after all?

—-

This is in reply to the person who made the comment in the comments section, it was too long so I decided to make it a part of the original post:

“The TRUTH is coming out”

–I don’t think there is any truth to find anymore. It’s too late people on both sides have convinced themselves they were the “injured party” and these opinions will never change. Ever. Throw as many bodies, bones and skulls around and the Serbs will say they were people killed by the Muslims, and the Bosniaks will say it was the Chetniks.

There is no winning, they will never get all the DNA crap done, bodies were moved so many times leaving pieces of people all over, in more than one mass grave. That makes things very complicated and it can be twisted to seem like a lot more victims that it actually is.

“Funny how Serbs who have been in their lands for over a thousand years resisting being under an Islamic fascist state defending their homes against militant extremists are guilty of “ethnic cleansing.”

What’s funny is you attacking me for saying what you just wrote. My whole point and opinion is to forget about the “genocide” forget about the “ethnic cleansing” like you said, call a spade a spade. If he is responsible for killing people he gets locked up. A murderer is a murderer. Done.

By focusing on the terminology over there in the Hague they are just making it easier for Karadzic to get off scott free. It takes a lot more work to prove someone orchestrated a whole genocide than to prove someone gave order to kill some people. Seriously, huge difference and they are tying their own hands behind their backs, which is ridiculous.

Now, the US stuff you are saying, yeah they are total assholes, I am lucky enough not to be one, I just wished I lived further away because they are going to be nothing but one big ass dart board eventually and I don’t want to be right next door when it happens.

My personal opinion was that yes, the States did take advantage of the situation and they definitely fanned the flames because it was in their interest to do so. They wanted whatever it was, crap maybe they just got off on the high of being in control, who knows why they do what they do, they are just total dicks basically. Every time I remember seeing stupid Bill Clinton bowing his head in front of that memorial, I throw up a little in my mouth.

You are talking about the market explosion right? With people saying the Bosniaks did it to their own people for sympathy. I personally don’t believe that. I can see the US doing it though to make something look like something it wasn’t. That, I can see happening.

And yes, war is war BUT bringing the fighting into where civilians are is just cheating. That shouldn’t happen. They should go back to the old ways where each side met the other in a field, they battled it out and whoever was left standing was the one to win. That was more fair.

But truly, I get conflicting feelings sometimes when it comes to the whole civilians thing. On one hand I think each party needs to take care to keep civilians out of the line of fire. But on the other hand, these stupid, slowly eeking wars are ridiculous. Either go all in, get the job done, messy, dirty, fast or get the fuck out. Period.

If they did it that way in the end people would be better off and hey, when all is done and accounted for maybe less people would have died.

What a STUPID STUPID STUPID World We Live On

by admin

pigs not dying in the sun

I am so annoyed with this stupid planet and pretty much everyone on it. It’s like the world tipped upside down and everyone got dropped on their heads or something. I have had a day where it was one STUPID STUPID thing after another, it’s driving me nutso!

First of all I was watching some ridiculous television show this morning, totally by accident I might add, and it was for Plan Canada or something like that, basically the sad version of World Vision. (Just a side note if you do want to donate to a good and uber worthy cause my favorite in the whole world is SOS Childrens Village in Bosnia.)

They were talking about how the money helps so many people blah blah blah, communities not just people yada yada yada. And there was this guy, I have no idea where in the world it was but he spoke Spanish so prob South America or something. Anyways, he was talking about how every year in the summer his pigs would die and he could never figure out why. Then PlanCanada swooped in on their white horse and taught him that the pigs were dying because they had no shade and the sun was hot. REALLY??? He couldn’t figure that out himself? What is he 2 years old?

It’s one of the hottest places in the world, the middle of summer, hot hot sunlight all day and year after year the pigs were dying, not in the winter only during the HOT summer months and it took someone else to tell him that maybe, just maybe the relentless sun was why they were dying??

WTF??????? If a guy is that fucking stupid he doesn’t deserve help! What kind of brain dead fucking idiot can’t figure out that animals need shade in the middle of the goddamn summer when it’s like 200 degrees in the sun? I almost threw my tv out the window, seriously, it was such total bullshit.

If you want to get my sympathy show me some starving kids, some blind people falling down ravines or show me some Amnesty International kind of stuff where people are in jail for life for stealing a loaf of bread. I don’t give one itty bitty iota for a farmer (he doesn’t even deserve to be called that) who is too fucking retarded (yes I said retarded) to figure out that direct sun all day long day after day after day isn’t good for his goddamn pigs. AHHHHHHHHHH!

How stupid do they think we are? It was the most blatant piece of bullshit I have ever seen and I’ll tell you right now I would go and buy drugs for the bum on the corner before I would donate to someone that fucking stupid. Am I wrong? That is really ridiculous right? People like him are what give Spanish speaking people a bad name. Shit, he gives people in general a bad name!

Now there is all the North Korea crap with them shooting off rockets over Japan. The kim yin jon or whatever the fuck his name is has got to be one of the most ridiculous leaders the world has ever seen and that’s saying something. Why is he so determined to fuck up his country?

There is no reason on God’s Green Earth for him to be pulling this shit, no one gives a damn about his stupid country. They are useless, they don’t have oil or gold or anything (at least that I know of, I could be wrong) anyone wants so they have nothing to have to protect themselves against. He must be some kind of paranoid something or other or he just likes attention.

The only problem (for him) is that I don’t think he realizes that his is the one country in the world that I could actually see the US obliterating. If he keeps pushing he is going to find himself nothing but a fine red mist along with the rest of the poor bastards who are stuck in that godforsaken country of his. What is his deal? He is just a puny, ignorant little piss ant. I hope they blow the whole fucking place to kingdom come, he’s asking for it. What a moron.

Some days I just want to scream, the world is full of fucking idiots, it’s a never ending parade of dumb and dumber and still dumber.

And don’t these people realize that nuclear weapons hurt everyone not just the country they launch them at? If they nuked Japan say, they would probably be worse off that Japan! The Japanese would die in the blast but it’s the rest of Asia, and prob us, that would have to deal with the fallout, the black rain, poisoned land and water. We would all (INCLUDING STUPID KOREA) die slow horrible deaths as we got poisoned and cooked from the inside out. It’s ridiculous, I would so rather be one of those killed in the bombing than have to live with the aftermath.

I mean, dude, I am just a chick, I am not a scientist or a government official but even I know these “leaders” are fucking ridiculous and their decisions are only going to hurt themselves as much, if not more than anyone else.

I can’t take it anymore, the world is just too stupid for words, to stupid for me to comprehend. I get like this every so often, it builds and builds and I explode. I really only hate one thing in life and that is ignorance in any form. Illogical thinking pisses me off! OMG!

Whew, I feel a little better now. So how was your weekend?

Biden vs Palin Vice Presidential Debate

by admin

biden palin debate

I am definitely on team Obama and the Biden Palin debate didn’t change that a bit. I’m probably about as liberal as a person can be but while I was watching part of the vice presidential debate tonight I was shocked and appalled by some of the things Biden said.

Palin on the other hand, well…for someone who really doesn’t know anything she held her own. Besides her accent is so cute I could listen to her talk about nothing all night long.

What jumped out at me during the vice presidential debate was the comment Joe Biden made about Bosnia. Actually there was more than one. I am going to break it down here:

Joe Biden stated that because of the decisions he and the US made tends of thousands of people were saved in the Bosnian war.

—- BS! The US caused a $hitload of trouble over there and with the help of the UN they basically helped the Serbs commit genocide. The US, NATO, the UN and every other organization and country in the world allowed the Serbs to surround and imprison Sarajevo for YEARS! They were under seige for years, they were given very little medical and food aid. In fact they were fed cans of miscellaneous meat that was so repulsive even dogs wouldn’t touch it.

And have you heard of Srebrenica? The Dutchbat UN troops wouldn’t even hand the Bosniaks back the guns they had confiscated so they’d be able to defend themselves. Instead they ran away to Potocari and then handed over the Bosniaks that were taking refuge in the Dutch base to the Serbs who summarily executed them. Sick!

So needless to say I was a little offended when Biden claimed that they stepped into the Bosnian war and “saved tens of thousands of lives” in the process. If they had “stepped in” a few years before they could have saved 100,000 lives.

It’s ridiculous! He should be ashamed to even mention Bosnia in the same sentence as the United States.

The claim that there had been fighting in Bosnia for hundreds of years.

—- The dumb ass actually stated out loud that he was all for going into Bosnia and putting a stop to the killing. He said his fellow politicians told him it could never been done. The “Croats, Serbs, Muslims, Bosniaks” would never find peace, but they made it happen.

First of all some of you may not know this but Sarajevo was always one of the most diverse and tolerant cities in the world. When other countries would take in Jewish refugees from WWII they were left to live in slums and treated like garbage.

In Sarajevo they had no Jewish slums. They were welcomed into society just like everyone else. People there didn’t care about ethnicities or religions. There were churthces, mosques and temples on each corner of some streets and there was never any problems. Serbs and Muslims were griends and have afternoon tea together, religion wasn’t a big issue at all.

Sure there had been fighting in the past but that was long before the Bosnia war that happened in the early nineties. Which by the way was not helped in any way by the UN, NATO, the US, Britain, France or anyone else.

They had not been killing each other for hundreds of years, not the way he portrayed it. It really irked me that Biden would say something about that during the vice presidential debate. And if Sarah Palin had been more on the ball or if she actually knew anything about what happened in the political past she could have ripped him a new one over this topic.

Joe Biden also claimed that they helped with Kosovo and they now have a stable government.

—- Again, does he actually follow world events? There are atrocities and vicious massacres in Kosovo all the time. It wasn’t long ago they had an extremely bloody war themselves.

With the Albanian terrorists wanting Kosovo to be independent and the Serb killers equally determined that this will never happen, the country is far from stable.

Sarah Palin claims she has foreign policy experience simply because Alaska borders Russia on one side and Canada on the other.

—- WTF?? How does that automatically give you foreign policy experience. I live on the border of Canada and the US and have England way over across the water. Do I then have foreign policy experience? I’ve been to the United States at least, has she ever been to Russia?

Sarah Palin is a headcase with a nice pair of glasses and a cute accent with macaroni where he brain should be. Kraft Dinner macaroni at that, it’s cheap and is a poor substitute for the real thing.

Here’s my bottom line:

For the most part I am happy with the Obama Joe Biden ticket. Biden seems like a smart guy, and I like how diplomatic Barack Obama is. he doesn’t seem like the war monger the Republicans are endorsing.

Sarah Palin on the other hand doesn’t seem to really stand for anything I believe her about except abortion. And John McCain, he is shriveling more and more everyday. One of these days he will fall asleep at the podium. he is too old and frail to be president of the United States.

The bits I did see of the debate weren’t boring at all and it was sad when Biden spoke of his family. I looked it up after and it turns out that just before Christmas back in 1972, his wife had taken their three children Christmas shopping. They got into an accident with a tractor trailer and his wife and one year old daughter were killed while the two boys were left in critical condition. Such a total tragedy, not that you should vote for him and Obama because of that, I just thought that was an interesting little fact.

All in all VOTE Obama in 2008 and be sure to NO on Proposition 8. Equality should be one of our basic human rights.
